Hello again and welcome to the latest blog article from Boray Estates and Developments, the best place to visit if you are interested in property for sale in North Cyprus.For this article we'll be looking at some of the attractions you could visit during your stay in Northern Cyprus. There is so much history and so many beautiful buildings to explore it's impossible to list everything here, but it should provide you with a good starting point and enough motivation to get out there and make your own discoveries.
Property for sale in North Cyprus will give you a base to explore the following sights:
* Kyrenia Gate - originally called Porta Del Providetore, this gate forms one of three entrances into the Venetian-built city. There have been some amendments made over the years, firstly the Turks added a square section complete with domed roof during restoration work in 1821. Latterly the British tore down sections of the connecting wall in order to aid traffic flowing in and out of the city. However Nicosia remains one of the best examples of a walled city, and the Kyrenia Gate is a fantastic sight to behold.
* Kyrenia Castle - 12th Century castle perched on the end of the picturesque harbour. The exterior underwent renovations in order to upgrade it's defenses, more specifically against the threat of cannon fire. Rounded towers as opposed to square ones were the result of these renovations. One interesting point to make about Kyrenia Castle is that you'll notice the majority of defenses face inwards, suggesting that the major threat was perceived to come from the Cypriots inland and not from the sea.
* Shipwreck Museum - in reality a sub-section of the Castle, the museum is host to a Greek merchant ship, thought to have have sunk during the 4th Century BC. It remains to be the only ship from this ancient period of Greek history.
