Last time out we showcased 3 ancient, exciting and beautiful places available to visit for those lucky people who have invested in Northern Cyprus property. Attempting to cover the numerous visitor attractions in one blog post proved impossible so we're going to continue the guide here. * Bellapais Abbey - An original French monastery called Abbaye de la Paix this 12th century abbey has to be included in any list of things to see whilst in Northern Cyprus. Made up of a church, a refectory, dorms and storage rooms all linked together by an inner courtyard, and set on a mountainside, Bellapais Abbey is a spectacular example of Gothic architecture.
* The Tree of Idleness - whilst in Bellapais it would be a crime for us not to mention the Tree of Idleness. Originally named during the 1950s by author Lawrence Durrell, and based on his observations of local citizens who would regularly congregate in the shade of the tree to discuss the latest issues of the day.
* Grand Turkish Baths - It was during the Ottoman Empire that public bath houses were delivered on mass to the people of Northern Cyprus. There are just 2 remaining examples of Roman Bath in the country, of which the Grand Turkish Baths is the most renowned. Built on the site of an old church the walls date back to the Lusignan period (1191-1489). One unusual feature of the baths is that they are situated 3 metres below street level.
